As a new chiropractic patient at Village Wellness, you will be asked to take 15 minutes to fill out confidential patient forms regarding your current complaint and your health history. Your first visit will be with your choice of either a male or female chiropractic doctor and last approximately 60 minutes. During this visit your chiropractor will conduct a more detailed health history as well learn more about your current health concerns. Your chiropractor will then conduct a physical exam which may include neurological testing, ranges of motion, muscle and joint palpation and orthopaedic tests. In some cases you may be referred to a local hospital for diagnostic X-rays. Once your chiropractic doctor has a diagnosis he/she will explain what the findings are, what the diagnosis is and what plan of treatment he/she feels would work best to resolve your current condition. All of the risks and benefits will be explained to you and then a treatment will follow. The treatment will likely consist of some chiropractic adjustments, and a prescription of exercises, stretches or postural advice for home.
For most chiropractic treatments you will be asked to lie down on the adjusting table or you may be seated in a chair. Your chiropractor will place their hands on key points and apply gentle contact, depending on your particular condition and the treatment plan your doctor feels is best. You may also be asked to participate in muscle work or stretching, lying down or seated. Clothing is generally left on during treatment and a gown will be provided if it is necessary to disrobe.
